IVAN GUTIERREZ (Retired)

Ivan retired from clinical practice in mid-2023 after a career spanning almost 50 years.

After completion of his physiotherapy qualification, he continued his development by completing his Diploma of Sport Sciences Physiotherapy from the University of Bergen and went on to complete his Post Graduate Degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from the Lincoln Institute in Melbourne. Ivan has extensive experience in physio working in a variety of settings with people from all walks of life. In addition to his clinical work at St Kilda Road, he also consults with several of Melbourne’s top orthopaedic surgeons.

He has been the Davis Cup physiotherapist, and since 1988 Ivan has been actively involved as a Physiotherapist for the Australian Open Tennis Tournament. He was the Head Physio with the Carlton Football Club for over 20 years and has travelled with elite international tennis players, including Lleyton Hewitt, Maria Sharapova, and Juan Carlos Ferrero.

He has a keen interest in hip/groin and shoulder conditions as well as the post-surgical rehabilitation process for hip and shoulder.
